Protecting our customers’ privacy is an important priority at IDT Telecom Canada Corp. (“IDT Canada”) and we are committed to maintaining strong and meaningful privacy protections. The privacy of your information is a significant responsibility and we value the trust you place in us.

Our Boss Revolution Privacy Policy is designed to inform you about the information we collect, how we use it, and your options with regard to that collection and use. This policy applies to our Boss Revolution customers in Canada and to visitors and uses of www.bossrevolution.ca and any other Boss Revolution website or mobile application who originate their web viewing in Canada. This privacy policy is a formal statement of the principles and guidelines concerning the requirements for the protection of personal information provided to IDT Canada by its customers and how IDT Canada employees protect that information.

What is Personal Information?

Personal Information is any piece of information, either factual or subjective, about an identifiable individual. Personal Information does not include the name, title, business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization.

The 10 Principles of Privacy

The following principles, developed by the Canadian Standards Association, form the basis of IDT Canada’s information collection practices and outline IDT Canada’s commitment to protecting your privacy.

1. Accountability

Every IDT Canada employee is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all information to which he/she has access. Our employees are informed about the importance of privacy and receive ongoing updates on privacy related policies. In addition to establishing this Privacy Policy, we have appointed a Privacy Ombudsman who is responsible for overseeing the personal information handling practices at IDT Canada and ensuring we are in compliance with our Privacy Policy and related policies. 2. Identifying the Purposes for Collecting Information

We collect a variety of information from our customers and use it for various purposes. This section describes the information we collect and why we collect it.

A. Information Collected When You Communicate with IDT Canada

When you communicate with us, we collect information from you that we use to deliver, provide, confirm, change, bill, monitor, maintain and repair your Boss Revolution products and services. This information is also used to resolve any issues with your order, with our products and services, or with your account. The information we collect may include your name, address, cell phone number, birthdate, frequently called numbers and other personal, phone or social network contact information; the reason for the contact; your Boss Revolution security code; and your payment information. We use this information to establish and maintain your Boss Revolution account, provide services to you, authenticate you, and contact you about products and services that we offer.

When you contact us or we contact you with calls, e-mail, SMS, or through a feature on our websites or in our applications, we may monitor or record that communication or keep a record of the transaction to help us train employees and provide high-quality customer service.

B. Information Collected When You Use Boss Revolution Products and Services

We collect information about you when you use our Boss Revolution products, services, applications and websites. This information includes call records, websites visited, application and feature usage, network traffic data, product and device-specific information, service options you choose, mobile and device numbers and other similar information. We use this information for billing purposes, to deliver and maintain products and services, and to help you with service-related issues or questions. We may also use this information for other purposes such as: providing you with information about product or service enhancements, determining your eligibility for new products and services, and marketing to you based on your use of our products and services, subject to any legal restrictions that may apply; managing and protecting our networks, services and users from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful uses; and subject to consent practices described in this policy, helping us improve our services, researching and developing new products, and offering promotions and other services. This type of information may be aggregated in a manner that does not personally identify you for business and marketing uses by us or by third parties.

C. Information Provided to Us by Third Parties

When you purchase Boss Revolution products or services with us, we may obtain credit information about you from outside credit reporting agencies to help us with customer authentication and credit-related decisions.

IDT Canada obtains information from outside companies that collect consumer information such as demographic and interest data. Examples of this information include gender, age range, sports enthusiast, or pet owner. We use this data and combine it with other information we have about you to help us predict customer preferences and to direct marketing offers that might be more relevant to you.

We may also obtain contact information and other marketing lead information from third parties, and may combine it with information we have to contact you or direct IDT Canada’s marketing offers to you. Website visitors and others may provide us with your email address or mobile phone number through “refer-a-friend” options or social networking platforms. We use these email addresses and mobile phone numbers to send promotional offers, free trials, Boss Revolution products and services purchased by others for your use and IDT Canada promotional marketing information.

D. Information Collected on Boss Revolution Websites

When you browse our Boss Revolution websites, information is collected about your device and your visit. We also collect data about your browsing, searching and buying activity as you interact with our sites. We may collect and use your IP address, mobile telephone or device number, account information, web addresses of the sites you come from and go to next and information about your connection, including your device’s browser, operating system, platform type and Internet connection speed. We use this information for operational and performance measurement purposes including monitoring statistics such as how many people visit our websites; which pages people visit on our sites; how much time is spent on each page or; which browsers are used to visit our sites.

When you establish an online account with us, we maintain information about your user identification, security code and password. This information is used to identify you when you sign in to your account.

IDT Canada and its vendors also use information collected on the Boss Revolution websites to help us deliver more relevant IDT Canada marketing messages. These messages may be delivered on our websites, on non-IDT Canada websites, on our mobile apps, by our representatives, via email, via SMS, via push notifications or via other IDT Canada services. We use this information in order to, among other things, ensure that you see the correct product information, manage the frequency with which you see an advertisement, tailor advertisements to better match your interests, and to understand the effectiveness of our advertising. We also may use this information to assess the effectiveness of our sites.

Certain IDT Canada vendors may place and read cookies on our sites to help us deliver IDT Canada marketing messages on our sites and on non-IDT Canada sites. We require that these vendors provide consumers with the ability to opt-out of their use of information for these purposes.

E. Information You Provide

When you contact us online or by other means for information about Boss Revolution products and services or when you enter an IDT Canada-sponsored or affiliated sweepstakes or similar promotion, we will respond to your request and may use the information you supply us to provide you with additional information about service offerings either at that time or in the future. If you enter a promotion or sweepstakes, your information may be disclosed as part of the program’s administration, such as in connection with the publication of winners, prize fulfillment, and as required by law or permitted by the promotion’s official rules. Information you provide on our websites may be used to provide you with more relevant product recommendations, services and special offers.

We may also collect information from you when you agree to participate in surveys or provide other feedback to us regarding our products or services. We use this information only for the purpose for which you provide it.

IDT may send you emails or SMS messages or mobile app push notifications that communicate information about your Boss Revolution account or about products, services, marketing offers, or promotions that may be of interest to you. When you open an IDT email or SMS message or click on links within these emails or text messages, we may collect and retain information to provide you with future communications that may be more interesting to you. Please note that IDT Canada will not ask you to send us, via email, sensitive personal or account information.

3. Consent for the Sharing and Use of Your Information

You have choices about how IDT Canada shares and uses information. In general, IDT Canada seeks your consent to collect, use or disclose your personal information at the time of collection or in advance. We have taken steps to ensure that our language is clear and understandable so that you know why we are collecting your information and how we will use it. Please note that under certain legal and medical circumstances it may be impossible or impractical to obtain an individual’s consent.

Consent may be expressed in writing or it may be implied in the circumstances. In addition to writing, your consent may also be expressed verbally or electronically.

In deciding what form of consent is appropriate, we will consider the type of personal information we need, its use, any necessary disclosures, the type of customer contact that is involved and applicable legislation. Your choices regarding this consent will remain in effect unless you change them.

In general, you can choose not to provide us with some or all of your personal information at any time. However, should you make this choice we may not be able to provide you with the product, service or information that you requested or that could be offered to you. Upon request we will explain your options of refusing or withdrawing consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information.

A. Telemarketing

National “Do Not Call” laws allow you to place residential wireline, wireless and VoIP phone numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry to prevent telemarketing calls to those numbers. If you would like to add your numbers to this list, you may do so by visiting http://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/.

You should be aware that even if you add your number(s) to the Do Not Call list, most telemarketing laws allow companies to contact their own customers. If at any time you would like to be removed from IDT Canada’s telemarketing list, please let us know by contacting an IDT Canada customer service representative at 1-800-676-8312. Please allow 30 days for your telephone number to be removed from any sales programs that are currently underway. Please note that we will still call you regarding your Boss Revolution account and services even if you remove your number from our telemarketing list.

B. Marketing Email, Text Messages

Marketing emails you receive from IDT Canada include an unsubscribe instruction (usually found at the bottom of the email) that you may use to opt out of receiving future marketing-related emails. Text message solicitations from Verizon also contain an "unsubscribe" feature that you can use to prevent future marketing text messages from us.

C. Information Used for Online Advertising

You have choices about whether certain information collected on the Boss Revolution websites. You can limit the collection of certain website information by deleting or disabling cookies. Most computers’ Internet browsers enable you to erase cookies from your computer hard drive, block all cookies, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. Please note that disabling cookies may prevent you from using specific features on our sites and other websites, such as ordering products or services and maintaining an online account.

4. Limiting Collection

IDT Canada does not collect personal information indiscriminately. Rather, we limit our collection of personal information to only what is necessary for the purpose we have identified. IDT Canada has special policies regarding collection of information from minors. We do not knowingly market to or solicit information from children under the age of 13, without obtaining verifiable parental consent. The IDT Canada network may not be used by customers in any manner for the storage, transmission or dissemination of images containing child pornography or any other illegal or inappropriate activity involving children and we will report any instances of such activity of which we become aware to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

5. Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention

Except as explained in this Privacy Policy or in agreements with our customers, IDT Canada does not sell, license or share information that individually identifies our customers, people using our networks, or website visitors with others outside the IDT Family of Companies for non-IDT Canada purposes without the consent of the person whose information will be shared.
IDT Canada shares customer information within the IDT Telecom, Inc. family of companies (“IDT Family of Companies”) for operational purposes. We also share certain types of customer information within the IDT Family of Companies for our own marketing purposes. Sharing this information allows us to provide you with the latest information about IDT Family of Companies’ products and services and to offer you our latest promotions.
IDT Canada uses vendors and partners for a variety of business purposes such as to help us offer, provide, repair and bill for products and services we deliver to you. We share information with those vendors and partners to the extent reasonably necessary for them to perform work on our behalf. For example, we may provide your credit card information and billing address to our payment processing company solely for the purpose of processing payment for a transaction you have requested. We request that these vendors and partners protect the customer information we may provide to them and limit their use of IDT Canada customer data to the purposes for which it was provided.
IDT Canada also may share certain information with outside companies to assist with the delivery of advertising campaigns, or preparing and sharing aggregate business and marketing reports.

We may disclose information that individually identifies our customers or identifies customer devices in certain circumstances, such as:

  • to comply with valid legal process including subpoenas, court orders or search warrants, and as otherwise authorized by law;
  • in cases involving danger of death or serious physical injury to any person or other emergencies;
  • to protect our rights or property, or the safety of our customers or employees;
  • to protect against fraudulent, malicious, abusive, unauthorized or unlawful use of or subscription to our products and services and to protect our network, services, devices and users from such use;
  • to advance or defend against complaints or legal claims in court, administrative proceedings and elsewhere;
  • to credit bureaus or collection agencies for reporting purposes or to obtain payment for IDT Canada-billed products and services;
  • to a third-party that you have authorized to verify your account information;
  • to outside auditors and regulators; or
  • with your consent.

If you purchase services offered jointly by IDT Canada and one of our partners, customer information may be received by both IDT Canada and our partner that is providing your service. For these jointly offered services, you should also review the partner company’s privacy policy which may include practices that are different from the practices described here.

6. Accuracy

We strive to keep our customer records as accurate as possible. You may correct or update your IDT Boss Revolution customer information by calling an IDT Canada customer service representative at 1-800-676-8312 or by accessing your account online and providing the updated information there. Please note that IDT is not responsible for information, content, applications or services provided by others. Before you access, use, link to or download a service or application on your computer or wireless device, you should review the associated terms of service and privacy policy.

7. Safeguards: Protecting your Information

IDT Canada has technical, administrative and physical safeguards in place to help protect against unauthorized access to, use or disclosure of customer information we collect or store. Employees are trained on the importance of protecting privacy and on the proper access to, use and disclosure of customer information. Under our practices and policies, access to sensitive personally identifiable information is authorized only for those who have a business need for such access, and sensitive records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for business or legal purposes. Although we work hard to protect personal information that we collect and store, no program is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee that our safeguards will prevent every unauthorized attempt to access, use or disclose personal information. IDT Canada maintains security and incident response plans to handle incidents involving unauthorized access to private information we collect or store. We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy, so please check back periodically for changes. You will be able to see that changes have been made by checking to see the effective date posted at the end of the policy.

9. Providing Access

IDT Canada will provide you with access to the information it retains about you upon receipt of a written request and satisfactory identification. We may charge you a nominal fee and if so, we will give you notice in advance of costs for processing your request.

If IDT Canada is unable to provide you with the information you have requested, the reason for the refusal will be explained in writing.
